Will it ruin a drawing if you coat it with clear nail polish? What will happen to it?

Will it prevent smudging or completely ruin the drawing? Will it make the paper crinkle up? Will it preserve the drawing? I used colored pencil to color my drawing, so if that has anything to do with the outcome, please tell me. Thanks in advance. And Happy New Year! :]Will it ruin a drawing if you coat it with clear nail polish? What will happen to it?
Nail polish is expensive and you'll need a lot of it to cover a regular sized paper because the paper will absorb the nail polish and it become lumpy or warped. A wet paper is likely to tear. Brushing the nail polish on the drawing can smudge the picture by the brushing action and by the wetness. Most importantly, nail polish contain aggressive chemicals that will discolor and break down the physical properties of the drawing.

If your drawing was done on acid free paper (most drawing paper is acid free nowadays) just mount it in a picture frame to keep it in good shape. Will it ruin a drawing if you coat it with clear nail polish? What will happen to it?
No!!! Don't do that whatever you do. Please!! (Gets down on her knees and begs) That is a mortal sin when it comes to art. The only time where that would be acceptable is on an oil painting, and even in that case you would use liquin. I suggest very strongly you frame it, don't even think about using nail polish like that, it is wasteful and it will make your picture look icky.
It depends, are you talking about a pencil drawing? If yes then most likely. It's bad for the brush as well as the paper, the paper could end up crinkly.
Don't use nail polish, the acid will turn the paper yellow. Go to the art store and get some fixative spray.
