Is it poisonous to chew on ur nails?

I read somewhere that all the dirt that is clogged up under your nails can be poisonous or just plain nasty for our bodies to digest. Is this true?Is it poisonous to chew on ur nails?
Maybe if you had your fingers in some arsenic. Otherwise, no.Is it poisonous to chew on ur nails?
It is definitely not poisonous. It's just a nasty habit, and it looks gross when you're doing it. Also; nobody will want to shake your hand or give you a high five after you've been nibbling on your nails!!! There is loads of dirt and bacteria that gets stuck under your fingernails though, so make sure you are washing your hands very often. (even scrub under your nails, it will help)

i chew on my nails and nail polish all the time and i'm as healthy as a horse.


well not really, but i didn't have any complications regarding my nail-biting.


however, it is a bad habit, and what you can do to stop yourself from doing it, is take some nail hardener, it's usually a clear nail-polish type of thing, then just put on a couple of coatings, and your nails will be so hard, you won't BE able to chew them off.

ok this is going to sound rotten...! but think of were your hands go and how often you wash them...but its like licking a toilet seat with the amount of germ under them..and it looks horrible to have tiny little bitin nails..its not poisonous but its just bad..! sorry if that wasn't nice to read..! lol x
Unless you've been dipping your hands into something poisonous or harmful and whatever that substance is somehow ended up under your fingernails, biting your fingernails is not poisonous.
It's not poisonous, but bacteria collects and thrives under fingernails, and the sharp edges of fingernails can damage the esophagus.
It is gross because your nails have alot of bacteria in them so it's pretty bad to eat all that dirt and then digest it. Just think of all the things you've touched with your finger nails!
no absolutely not you can chew on your nails all you want and nothing will happen except you will have really short nails
The dirt is probably pretty gross, but I've never heard of anyone dying from biting their nails. There would be millions dead if that were true.

chewing on nails isnt poisonous but can wear out your teeth and such. and i dont think anyone wants to eat dirt, so clean out your nails if so...
probably not. We apparently unknowingly eat a fair amount of insect life, don't wanna imagine where some of those have been
No, its not bad. It won't do much harm. And when I say much I mean like it may cause you to have a nasty taste in your mouth
