You'll be fine. You're old enough to type, you've gone through your regular vaccination series, unless your parents are the tinfoil hat types who don't believe in immunizing their children...I just stepped on a nail i bleeded but my mon put some alchahol on it. I am not sure if i had a tetanus shot?

If you aren't sure when your last tetanus shot was, you will need to get one right away. It takes apx 2 weeks for your body to produce antibodies after the vaccine. Btw, it is a neurotoxin that the bacteria produce that is potentially fatal and there is nothing to neutralize it; the goal is to keep the bacteria count as low as possible until your body can fight it off. The bacteria seem to have an affinity for rusted objects. This is not a ';wait and see'; situation.
It's not the fact it was a nail. It's because it was a puncture wound that is important. Also tetanus comes from a bacteria found in the soil and could be on anything that punctures your skin. So, the alcohol your mom
put on will do nothing. She should check with your doctor about your vaccinations. Usually people get a tetanus vaccination as infants and every 10 years. Getting tetanus is rare but very serious if you are one of the few who get it.
Just clean it real good. I stepped on so many rusty nails when I was younger you'd think I wouldn't have a foot by now lol. Just try and clean it (like your mom said with alcohol) and you should be fine. Make sure to keep it clean too. And for just in case go get a shot lol.
I live in the UK. If a patient sustains an injury here they should go the local hospital emergency department and see the minor inuries unit. They assess the injury, dress it and give tetanus to people who are not covered or do not know their status.

call your dr to check when last tetnus shot was or get one as soon as you can...a small shot is better than the alternative..
if it was just a small nail/cut you will prob be fine..

Your mother can call your doctor's office and ask whether or not you need a tetanus booster.
Tetanus shot lasts 10 years, if your not sure then you should get one. Your jaw will lock up if you get posioned by rust.
