How hard is it to clip a bearded dragon's nails?

And are there any alternatives? Like, can I let him run on concrete every day to keep his nails short? How hard is it to clip a bearded dragon's nails?
It's not particularly hard to clip a dragons nails and unless you want to file the nails, you'll have to clip them. you can use regular nail clippers or by clippers for cat nails. It's something you only really need to do once every month or so so it's nothing to worry about. The dragon for the most part will sit on your arm or hand w/out much fussHow hard is it to clip a bearded dragon's nails?
They are very easy to trim. I own a black throat monitor and I just use baby finger nail clippers and trim just the tip of them if you cut to far down they could bleed to death just like a dog if you are not careful. The bigger they get the bigger the nail clippers you are going to want to use. I also put a towel over his head to keep them still. Once it is dark lizards have a tendency not to move much and it calms them down enough to get it done faster.

Will nail polish on your phone ruin it?

probably not if it is kept away from all moving parts. I would think the polish might flake off..try paint made for plastic..Will nail polish on your phone ruin it?
it depends where you got it. If i was by the battery, it's shot! but other wise it probly fineWill nail polish on your phone ruin it?
I dont think so... not if its on the outside...
If you got it near the battery. Not otherwise.
I have one of those ugly oyster phones by virgin Moble. And it really needed a new style. So I went along and added a little color(nail polish) it was fine. And as long as you don't get the nail polish by any of the buttons, or wired areas I think you'll be fine.

I have an ingrown toe nail i think. Theres a really swollen piece of skin on my big toe and it hurts?

What should i do...its even when i barely hit somethingI have an ingrown toe nail i think. Theres a really swollen piece of skin on my big toe and it hurts?
There are several old homemade remedies, with a Dr.'s oversight being best. The one that worked for me when I was a teen, was to use Epsom salt... place your foot in a bucket of warm water, then mix a good amount of Epsom salt, and leave it for a while. Repeat this process until you feel better. It softens the skin, cleans out the wound and refreshes your foot, all for a very low price.

In future, try to cut your nail straight and not curved in the future. Don't break the edge of your nail nor attempt to remove the point crudely. Do so softly, with a clean scissors; never peel it, even if it bothers you.

Good luck!

Hope you feel better.

  • If I put Soft Paws on my kitten or clip it's nails do I even need a scratching post?

By clipping I mean using a pair of clippers and clipping the sharp points. If I put Soft Paws on my kitten or clip it's nails do I even need a scratching post?
Yes, you will still need one. Their nails constantly grow, and it is a very strong natural instinct for them to sharpen their claws.

So, you need some catnip and a nice sturdy post.

I have six cats and aLL six have learned to use the post for sharpening ONLY.

The trick is to find something that they LIKE!

Keep in mind that when they sharpen, they like to fully stretch their bodies, (full body stretch). So the post needs to be long and STURDY. Sprinkle cat nip on it to attract them to it...If I put Soft Paws on my kitten or clip it's nails do I even need a scratching post?
I clip may cats nails and provide a scratching post. This combo works well to prevent furniture scratching. The cat still wants to scratch if its nails are trimmed - I just notice that the use of the scratching post and claws generally increases when its time to clip again.

My cat prefers the posts with the sisal rope. I think these work best.
You will still need a scratching post because scratching is a natural instinct. It is important to find one that they like. My cats love the cheap ones made of cardboard!
When my cat had softpaws on, we still kept her cardboard scratcher because she still loved to do the scratching motions. It's her routine every time she finishes using her litter box for some reason!
By clipping the nails you also need a scratching post or mat. with softpaws normally you don't, but cats love to do teh movemnet of scratching something, so unless your cat is really destroying furniture, I suggest ypu trim the nails every 2-3 weeks and have a scratching post available. If she scratches anywhere else, grab her softly, say NO, and put her on teh scratching post.
It would help as scratching is normal cat behavior. Even declawed cats like to ';scratch'; things. If you train your cat to scratch only things that are allowed such as cat trees then maybe you won't have to bother with the nail caps at all.
Yes! I have one cat that is declawed in front and the other has all his claws, but they both use the stratching posts. Cats have glands in the paws and it is a way of marking their territory - so short claws, covered claws or none at all, they will continue to scratch. Be sure to get one that is tall enough for your cat if s/he likes to stretch to scratch. Our male cat scrates the bottom of the pole and the base where as our female stretches up to the top of the pole.
They like to scratch even if their claws are removed!

I would really LOVE to buy some O.P.I. nail polish. They usually have it for sale at hair/nail salons. I always used to think that it was a great brand until I actually started using it...it totally sucks in my opinion. It chips after a day or two and dries ';streaky'; on my nails. But this is just my experience. Try your local nail salons though or an Ulta store.OPI nail polish-where can i buy it?!?!?!?!?

How is Knox gelatin used to strengthen nails? Drink it or ?

Why do you want to strengthen your nails? Look, Wolverine is just a fictional character. You cant go around shredding people to pieces with your nails. They will put you in jail! please, I urge you to think this over before you get yourself in trouble. How is Knox gelatin used to strengthen nails? Drink it or ?
It's because gelatin is very good for nail health in general, and that's what Knox is. Gelatin helps promote the structure of the nails, as does Silica.

You can make a batch of regular gelatin or you could drink it before it sets.... but it doesn't usually taste as good that way. Most of the people I talk to that want to help their nail's health with gelatin prefer a capsule of Gelatin and/or Silica. How is Knox gelatin used to strengthen nails? Drink it or ?
Gelatin is made from the collagen inside the connective tissue of animals. There are better ways to strengthen nails such as silica and other nutrients. You may have deficiencies in minerals and should take a quality multivitamin/mineral product from a natural foods store, not drugstore.

No, it's fine to paint your nails during pregnancy. Make sure you are in in a well ventilated area though to reduce the fumes.
No its fine as like as you're not sniffing the fumes. Open a window or turn on a fan. You might need some help with your toes!

If Jesus rose from the dead with a glorified body, why did it still have nail wounds and a hole in its side?

This is one thing I have never understood; Christian teaching is that we will be made whole upon resurrection, yet when Jesus rose from the dead and presented himself to the disciples, he still had nail wounds in his hands and a hole in his side, as, according to the biblical story, he presented these as evidence of his identity to doubting Thomas.

Now, either resurrection carries over the effects on the physical body, or perhaps Jesus did not actually die on the cross, but was rescued from it and recuperated, as some theories hold. This is a speculative question, of course, since there can never be a concrete answer divorced from personal opinion; regardless, I am interested in the personal opinions of everyone. If Jesus rose from the dead with a glorified body, why did it still have nail wounds and a hole in its side?
Let's see... snippy answers, thumbs down... *sigh* God I luv coming to R%26amp;S... LOLIf Jesus rose from the dead with a glorified body, why did it still have nail wounds and a hole in its side?
    ((((Jack)))) Thanks!

Christ's death is a special case no matter how you slice it (within the Christian perspective, of course). It is possible that the wounds remained on his risen body as an eternal testament to what he and God had done for humanity, or even that he chose to maintain his wounds after resurrection for the sole purpose of putting Thomas' doubt to rest. Either way, what really makes you think that the resurrection of mankind is of the same nature as Christ's?
God goes out of His way, even for one who will hear.

The Bible says that Thomas, known as Thomas, the Doubter; proclaimed to all the disciples ';unless I see the scars, and I put my hand on the wound in His side, I will not believe.'; He was referring to the Lord's resurrection.

    And when he did see the scars and did touch the wound, he proclaimed ';My Lord and my God.';
A Glorified Body Meant Spiritually, He wasn't as Bound to earth so to speak. He Rose From the dead, He still had his physical body and his Physical body was wounded. The theory of him being Saved from the Cross is not valid since he still was pierced on the side with a spear to make sure he was dead.
Obviously Jesus could heal wounds. He could raise others from the dead, and restore lost ears, fingers, noses from lepers and from the servant at the garden the night of His arrest. It is well known that the ONLY reminder of sin after it is all destroyed in the lake of fire will be those scars. For all eternity there will be a reminder of the cost of disobedience, and will forever be a guard against sin ever occurring again.
It was a sign to prove to the people That He chose to reveal Himself to that it was indeed Him. And because of the reason for the nail holes and pierced side, it may be with Him forever. A glorified body can have these imperfections and still be glorified.

    God be with you,

    William, a bond-servant of Jesus

I ve often wondered this same question. And the only thing Ive been able to surmise is that, a. He knew that Thomas(and other doubters) would need to see to believe and b. those scars represent what he did for those that do believe. It is also conceivable that battle scars are cool when you have defeated the enemy.
Oh, silly, Renaissance painters did that. Of course this is a speculative question, and if I may speculate, a la Occam's Razor, I would speculate that some poor guy was brutally executed for his beliefs and it really pissed off a whole bunch of people, as it rightly should. %^%^%26amp;%%26amp;^% Romans.
Hey, I'm no Christian, but I'll bet you anything Jesus wanted to show off his martyr wounds since he is such a glorified sissy.

    Like, ';Hey ya'll look and my wounds. Don't you feel GUILTY??????? You hurt me, but I still love you.';

What I never got is why some people hang a cross with a crucified Jesus on it in their homes. Can you say, ';morbid';?
There is an OT verse in the Book of Zechariah that Jesus will have to prove to the Jews at the end time that He was the Messiah !!! So He is keeping those scars at least until then !!!

Remember doubting Thomas, he became a missionary to the East Indians and they have a memorial church in his honor in Madras, India !!!

Keep asking good questions and I trust you will get good answers !!!
Yeah - like many Christians have told me that if you are ugly in life you'll be ugly in Heaven but no one will care. Maybe if you can ';glorify'; war by calling it a crusade or jihad - you can glorify wounds by calling them evidence.
God left those marks on him because he didn't look the same so he needed the ability to prove who he was to those that knew him.
Jesus was first resurrected and did not receive his glorified body until he was transfigured before his ascension.
Jesus just thought that battle scars looked cool at the time. Now that he's older he regrets getting them during his young, wild and reckless phase.
He revealed them, the wounds are symbolic of His sacrifice.
no, he was totally healed when he rose again.
None of that particular story ever happened anyway. It is all fiction. We live -we die -That's it
    magicians can make mistakes.
to show the world the scares they placed on his hands and his love he did for everyone.
Aesthetic reasons. (It look well hard).
To prove to the apostle's that it was really him.
Jesus was showing us the proof. We people alway are wanting proof. He showed it, the apostles believed it so much that they died for Him.
Maybe he didn't scrub hard enough...
So then, if his body was glorified and it had a hole its side... wouldn't that be a ';glory hole';...?
Why do you put God in a box?

Aren't these marks trophies for Christ?
Well sweetie, which part of ';glorified body'; confuses you? It's still His body, but now glorified.

Obviously He had to come back in a body to show His disciples that it was still Him - only with that whole glorified part added on - so He showed them what they needed to see. If indeed He is the Son of God, then why would you think Him incapable of showing them what they needed to see?

And that little theory about Him surviving the cross ... that was sort of the whole point for Him to die like He did, don't you folks see that? If there was any doubt that He was dead, the resurrection would be in doubt.
The cross was the glory of Christ. Notice the wounds from the scourging are conspicuously missing from the description and those would have been much worse than two holes in the wrists, two holes above the feet and a hole in the side. The Roman scourging would have ripped most of the flesh off of his body and this is not presented in the text as part of the resurrected body. The wounds from the crucifixion are so that we always remember what Christ has done for us.

Also, to say that Christ came off the cross alive is lunacy. The scourging ripped up his flesh and most likely broke a few ribs. The blood loss from that alone would be debilitating. The actual execution was performed by trained killers who knew when somebody was dead and made sure of it before the let someone off the cross or else they would be the next ones executed. The spear through the heart kind of seals the deal though. There is no possible way someone can survive that and then in three days roll away a large stone and sneak past a group of guards and then inspire anyone to want to follow him. He would elicit more pity than worship but the disciples went from being terrified of being associated with Christ to 10 out of the remaining 11 being horrifically executed after he reappeared.

Nail half split, will it still grow?

My nail recently got a little split in it.

Its like at the side but itw only a little cut into the nail, not all the way round.

I was wondering will it keep on growing were it has split and obviously were it hasnt? If i was to try and leave it alone and wait for it to grow out a little and then cut were the spilt is - will that work? Or will it not grow now because it is damaged?

And please no stupid comment like ';its only a nail'; - it matters to me and my other nails are long. So USEFUL answers only.

Thanks in advance.Nail half split, will it still grow?
Your nail will keep growing regularly, but the split will never repair itself. Each time the nail even slightly flexes, it will cause the split to become gradually bigger and bigger, until the part of the nail breaks off. If the split is in white part of your nail, I would just cut it off and spare yourself the pain of having it catch on something and rip off even shorter. If it is in the pink part, I would cut that nail very short, and keep cutting it until the split is out, so that the nail bed itself isn't damaged if the nail catches on something. Better to start the nail growing healthy than risk damage to your nail bed.Nail half split, will it still grow?
if it is split u want to cut the bit or it wont grow properly and wont grow fast either so just cut it it wont grow on the split it will but it takes ages to grow it my sister had the same problem but she left it like that so it had to be repaired for 5 years
Yes it will, when mine breaks I just put a little super glue on the spot and then it just grows out. I can't stand to cut them when it tears below the tip and it hurts.
Nails grow from out of your finger so yes it will grow out. Just wait as you said and cut the nail were the split is. But if your nails are doing that try getting more calcium in your system.
yeah, it will grow back. Don't worry. Just leave it and it will grow back slowly in about a couple of weeks. just be patient.
it will grow but cut it down as short as you can so it does not split down towards your finger. put hardner on it and keep it trimmed

My acrylic nail has come away from my natural nail, will superglue be a silly thing to use to repair it.?????

    yes

Why does nail polish have a bead in it?

That's what makes the noise inside the bottle! Now I know. Why does nail polish have a bead in it?
The polish is a very thick liquid and when we shake the bottle to mix the liquid, the bead acts like a little spoon to stir it up better. Sometimes when polish is separated, a hard shaking plus the bead will blend it back to normal. Once when a bottle did not have a bead in it, I put one in (from a broken bracelet) and it mixed better when shaken. Why does nail polish have a bead in it?
So you can shake it up and mix it around, the ball/bead is used like a spoon in cake batter (lol) All it does is mix it around and such... Peace %26gt;o
nail polish chemicals and ingredients seperate after being left alone in a nail polish bottle too long..... the bead mixes it up and makes the color better
it rattles around in the botle and helps mix up the contents when you shake the bottle.
It makes it easier to shake up the polish. :) It is kindof weird huh.... I like to know simple things like that too...
makes it easier to mix when its bein shaken.
    lmao i've always wondered!!! xx

I agree with the other answer, though I will add this happened to my sister years ago, and the nail eventually came off on its own. You don't really need to do either. I've had similiar things and with a bandaid around it to keep it clean you have done all the dr. would do. There is nothing else to do.

Is a nail buffing kit worth it or is it stupid?

Okay yesterday at the mall i got ambushed by one of the salesmen. Being an actress myself, I must say he did a really good job. He was selling a nail buffer kit. Now he said it lasts months but i don't really believe it. I also thought my nail kind of looked plastic but since i can't wear nail polish due to work i thought it looked like a great alternative. The kit also comes with this cuticle conditioner, it had to be 3 ounces at least, and a 9 oz water based lotion. He said since I was only 17 he'd give it all to me for $15. My question is does this sound like a stupid deal and is nail buffing a waste of my time? Or will it really benefit. I need a polished look for my acting career but do hands really matter? Is a nail buffing kit worth it or is it stupid?
Okay, maybe I'm not your regular guy, but I don't get it. Sure a cracking body, face or whatever will turn a man's head. But that's a very different matter to who we take home. Sexy is what's important. And no amount of fiddling will ever make you more sexy than how you feel.

I guess it's a bit different for actors/esses but that particular detail is dependent on the thing you're doing. Normally finger nails are a bit small to be spotted by any bar the most fastidious. As a film maker myself, my main concern will always be with the eyes - regardless of make-up.Is a nail buffing kit worth it or is it stupid?
no i don't think its a waste of time at all. since you cant wear nail polish, and us girls like to have nice nails, this is a great idea. 15$ is a bad price in my opinion, there are cheaper products you could have bought that have the same effect. but i mean if you really do like it then yes it is a good deal.
a good hand cream, a cuticle remover and a good manicure every week is all that you need put the cream at night and a pair of cotton gloves in the morning you'll see the beautiful result. your hands will thank you.
Well I got this Seacret Nail Kit for a gift and I still use it all the time. I think it was from a mall salesman but it works very well and keeps my nails smooth and shiny, which goes with any outfit.
    It's a waste.

If you want soft cuticles, put Vaseline on them.

If you want shiny nails, put clear polish on them.

If you want clean nails, WASH THEM with soap and water.
The one from the dead sea works great. But you know all you have to do is soak your fingers in warm water and the paint your nails and it works well.

I love the one from the dead sea though.
    waste of friken time!!
it is really benifit, if you dont like it after you buy it return it an get your $15 back..
    waste of time
i was at a mall when i went on vacation and a guy did the exact same thing to me and i told him i didn't want it but every time that i walked by him he tried selling it to me again so i eventually bought it just to get him to stop bugging me.. i thought that it wouldn't work at all and that i would really regret buying it but i didn't. it works wonders and it makes it look like you are always wearing a clear coat of nail polish i'm actually really glad i bought it.

the only thing that i kind of don't like about it is the moisturizer, its pretty thick and i wouldn't put it on before going out because it doesn't make your skin look smooth like other moisturizers ut i use it almost every night before i go to bed

Someone here said, If you put a nail in a coke , 4 days, it will rust......?

What affect would lemon juice or vinegar have on a nail? I should take better care of my nails.Someone here said, If you put a nail in a coke , 4 days, it will rust......?
Yes, lemon juice and vinegar will cause iron to rust as well. It's like that old story where they say that putting a tooth in a can of coke for a day will cause the tooth to dissolve, yes it will, but the same could be said for putting a tooth in a glass of orange juice for a day as well. It's the acid in coke that causes the effects you're talking about, an Orange and Lemon juice and Vinegar all have more acid in them than coke does.Someone here said, If you put a nail in a coke , 4 days, it will rust......?
note nails are not metal and they cant get rust if though they get rust apply some oil on it
Try it! (Simple Science for Simple Minds)
I have heard a similar stat. If you put a tooth into a glass of Coke, it would disappear in 1 day.
    stay away from my wife

Ya, I hear the same rumour. Why don't you put it to the test. But be sure you don't drink the coke after the nail has been in it. I'm told coke is quite acidic
coke will even remove limescale,it is very acidic

Hey, my Dad had the same problem. Usually, the internet versions of adware and spyware removal don't work all the time. But, you can go to:

This should help. If the free scan doesn't catch anything, I suggest to go and buy the full version. If you do not have adware or spyware, webroot will not detect it because this particular program does not catch viruesm only spyware adware, spam, etc. If you still cannot correct the problem, take your pc to CompUSA or the Geek Squad at BestBuy. What you do, is to make a nice, perfectly straight row of nails, touching each other, then another row right on top of the other. Do this until you have a nice, flat shelf of nails. Then simply put the jelly on the shelf.
your not being very specific. Is the jelly dried, how much jelly, how large are the nails, the sharp part being their radius. Do i have a certain number if nails with the same radius but different lengths? overall i'll say alot

Why is it bad to remove a cats nails?

.............other than the obvious, ';well, imagine how you would feel if someone took your nail off!'; i mean, sure, that's a true point, but personally i can interact with my cats a million times better since they can't claw me, so that makes me pay more attention to them, and ultimately love them more. And since i'm the one guarding them from the harsh outdoors and feeding them, they don't really need them anyway. So why is there such animosity? Why is it bad to remove a cats nails?
I've always wondered why they can't just BREED cats without claws. I mean, cats are domesticated animals and they don't really need their claws (as long as they're kept indoors).

My cat was already declawed (front paws) when I adopted her. I'm totally against declawing. But now that I have a declawed one, I have to admit that there are advantages. She still has a very active scratching instinct but there's no ripping up furniture, no scratches on people and her nails don't have to be clipped. She does have sharp teeth though. And she likes to use them if she doesn't get her way.

I never thought I'd say that: But I'd rather have a declawed cat. But I myself would never take a cat to the vet to have it done. And therein lies the contradiction. Why is it bad to remove a cats nails?
Its not like having your nail cut off its like having your finger cut off at the knuckle. Then imagine walking on it!!! Cats have many problems from this. They even die!!! After they get them removed they get very shy and scared and are never the same. I'm not kidding. Read all this please at: http://www.declawhallofshame.com/wst_pag鈥?/a>

Also you can buy the little things you glue on their nails.
I don't think it's bad . I think it's just like domesticating a cat in the first place ...... you're changing it's nature to make it compatible to your household.

After the cat's come out of anestesia and heal .... it's almost as if they never had claws. You'll still see them climbing and kneading as if they had claws. The cat may still want to go outside .... and it's not as if a wild dog or other animal is always ready to pounce on them. In many cases ..... the claws may not protect it against a very agressive dog or other large animal anyways. As far as my Vet clinic and my own personal experience goes .... there are normally very few cases of complications for the cat.

My sister has a cat that is so nasty that it should have been declawed years ago. It attacks kids and other things without being provoked.

This will be a controversial subject. Some vets and some locations don't even allow it.

But I say .... it's your cat ... it's your household .... if you can find a Vet to do it .... do it without guilt. I'm going to support you on this decision.
It's not natural for a cat not to have claws--inside or/AND ESPECIALLY outdoor cats. They use their nails (if you watch them play) to pick up things (like those little furry mice, and fuzzy balls), they use them in grooming, in climbing, and for Heaven's Sake, anyone who does this to an indoor/outdoor cat is just plain CRUEL. The cat has NO DEFENSES. NO, it is NOT a good idea! The cat can be trained not to scratch YOU or your furniture, mine doesn't--he is strictly an indoor cat and uses his scratching posts--NOT me, NOT the furniture, drapes or anything else.
'cause they don't just cut the nail off! The bottom part of the digit is amputated.

Imagine you needing to remove a nail and in order to do that the top third of your finger is removed.

IS IT STILL A GREAT IDEA?
its not bad....you dont want them messing up your crap....remove their nails and then keep them inside
well i guess its like there nature to have them...think about it if someone shaved of all your hair....its a part of us to have it....i dont think its mean at all because you could pay more attention to them that way
its is like cutting the end of ones fingers ,and handicaps the cat being a cat ,it is how it picks up its food ,climbs into trees ,and defends it self ,and is considdered extremely cruel .if you want to do that get a toy cat not a real one ,or another kind of animal like a snake they dont have nails

just that you ask that question is very suspicious if you are qualified to have a cat

personally i dont like cats too much they eat a lot of animals that are pestcontrols ,but that does not mean that i respect animals in general .this many Christians lack
just in case the cat goes outside it needs a defense against things trying to attack the poor animal s thats y it is bad
If your talking about declawing, I have read that doing this is equivalent to cutting a persons fingers off at the tip.
Yes, you're right about it. I mean, it really hurts for the cat anyway, obviously. My cat, Sammy, is an indoor cat, but I still don't want to declaw him because it hurts alot, of course, and because sometimes he runs away and he was injured once (really because of the fence separtating the neighbor's front yard to ours) but we should always be careful.

I suppose it's your choice if you want to declaw your cats, but I really don't think you should.

Edit - I also heard that for some cats, when they are declawed, their temper is worse, and it's just awful to do that. =(
its only bad it it is an outdoor cat...if indoor its okay to remove

outdoor: it cant climb, kill, anything

but if its an indoor cat its alright...it doesnt need to climb or kill inside
It hurts them because, if not taken out properly, they can become infected and cause the pet pain. Do not take an outdoor cat's nails out because they don't have a way to defend themselves if you do. Just make sure you get it done properly, and only for indoor cats.
When I purchased my cat from the Humane Society he already had all four paws declawed. I personally wouldn't do all four and would only declaw them on the front so that they wouldn't claw up my furniture. I did a google search to see why others felt it was bad to declaw your cat and here's what I found out:

Cats need to scratch; it's part of their natural instinctive behavior. Scratching helps to keep cats in shape and allows them to stretch and tone their muscles. If all cats lived outdoors all of the time they would exercise their scratching instinct on tree trunks, fallen logs, and other sturdy objects. However, most of us want to keep our cats safe and warm inside our homes.

Indoor cats sometimes scratch things we don't want them to scratch, like our sofas, beds, or other furniture. This can be upsetting to humans, since scratching can cause damage. Some people decide to declaw their cats, taking them to a veterinarian to have the first joint on each toe removed, eliminating the cat's claws altogether. This does stop cats from scratching. But if you care about your cat you shouldn't declaw.

Reasons not to declaw your cat:

    1) The surgery is extreme, removing not just the claw but also the first joint of the toe. It is painful and traumatic for the cat. While some cats do manage to adjust after this surgery, others will experience pain for years. It may cause the cat to have difficulty running fast, climbing, or jumping.

    2) Scratching is both exercise and entertainment for your cat. Depriving your cat of the ability to scratch is a lot like telling a kid he can't ever play hide and seek or baseball again. Your cat will not be able to stretch and tone her muscles in the same way as before. She may feel bored and unhappy.

    3) Scratching is a natural and instinctive behavior in cats. A declawed cat cannot understand what has happened to her and she will still attempt to scratch. She will feel frustrated when she cannot scratch or when her injured toes cause her pain. Your cat may act out her frustration in other ways, becoming destructive or crying out constantly.

    4) It just isn't necessary to declaw your cat. There are plenty of other simpler, kinder ways to stop her from destroying furniture. Cat lovers who choose not to declaw their cats can still save their furniture. It may take a little effort, but it is well worth it to have a happy cat and happy human. See Other Side If you feel you must have a declawed cat, consider adopting a cat that is already declawed. Millions of cats are dropped off in animal shelters every year. They desperately need good homes. Previous owners have declawed many of these cats. So instead of subjecting another cat to such a terrible procedure, help out a needy cat who has already been through the surgery.

    How to live with scratching:

    1) Provide at least one good scratching post for your cat. An ideal scratching post should allow your cat to stretch out her entire body length. For most cats the post should be 2 and 1/2 feet tall or long. This will allow her to fully exercise her ';scratching muscles.'; If the scratching post is too short she will look for something else to scratch, like the sofa.

    2) You may wish to try placing several scratching posts in various parts of your home. If your cat gets the urge to scratch, but has to go a long way to reach her scratching post, she might decide to give something else a try. Put the scratching posts where your cat can find them easily and has enough space to really stretch out.

    3) Try a variety of scratching posts. Most cats like posts covered with thick carpet, which is soft but also provides resistance as they drag their claws downward. Some cats also like tough rope-covered posts, or less expensive cardboard scratching ';mats.';

    4) Make the scratching post appealing to cats. Put catnip on it and be sure to praise your cat when you see her using the scratching post.

    5) Replace old, worn-out scratching posts. If most of the carpet is worn away, or the post has become extremely ragged, it just isn't as much fun to use anymore.

    6) Keep your cat's claws trimmed. You can do this at home with a safe tool made just for cat's claws available at your local pet supply store. This will make your cat more comfortable, and limit scratching damage to furniture. Shorter, less sharp claws will also keep you scratch-free when you and your cat cuddle. If you don't feel comfortable trimming your cat's claws, ask your vet or groomer to show you how.

    7) If your cat is already in the habit of scratching your furniture, you will have to break her of that habit. Provide attractive scratching posts while you make your furniture less appealing. 路 Cover the furniture: In some cases placing a slip cover over a couch can discourage a cat from scratching.

If your cat is really determined to scratch the sofa, though, you will need to take more drastic steps.

Use repellents: There are some commercially available cat-repellents, intended to deter cats from scratching furniture. Choose one that is safe for indoor use, non-toxic, and recommended for furniture. The repellents have a faint odor, undetectable to humans, that cats find unpleasant, so they stay away from objects that have been sprayed. Repellents work for most cats but not all.

Try herbs: Some people use herbal products as safe non-chemical cat-repellents. Good choices are citrus oils or the herb rue, both of which cats dislike.

Change the texture of the furniture: You can place specially designed adhesive-backed strips over the areas your cat likes to scratch. These strips, made just to discourage scratching are available in pet supply stores. They stick right on your furniture and have a slippery surface to prevent cats from sinking their claws into the upholstery.

Don't tempt your cat: If you are buying new furniture, stay away from textures that cats love to scratch. A really fuzzy plush couch may be too tempting for your cat to resist. It's a little like placing a plate of brownies in front of a group of kids and expecting them not to eat them.

    8) If all else fails you can ask your vet to put ';Soft Paws'; on your cat. These are soft plastic covers that go over the sharp part of the cat's claw. They prevent your cat from damaging furniture when she decides to scratch. These are non-toxic and painless. They do, however, need to be replaced from time to time.

I hope this info helps you.
I think you're question has been answered enough by the PETA crowd.

My question is: why don't dogs get decawed or have their teeth removed? The answer: because people take more time to train their dog vs their cat.
If you keep your cats indoors, I don't see what the big deal is. It wouldn't be so good if they were outdoor cats, for obvious reasons. If you and the cats are happy..who cares what other people say.
Bree, look at your hand. See the first knuckle behind the nail. Now

can you just think what it would feel like if someone took a chain cutter to your knuckle and cut. Now the other 9. It is not just the nail. Nasty. All three of my cats have there nails and they do not scratch me at all.

    GO HERE

I ask how would you like it if someone took of the top 3rd of you fingers. it is what happens when cats are declawed. trim the nails if they are too long its not that hard
From a humane standpoint - it hurts that cat and that is bad. Hey, I've done it to a few cats and I'll never do it again...so I'm not preaching anything that I don't know about upfront.

That your cats don't go outside and you are their gardian, then, you have made a choice and after the initial pain, the cat is never bothered by it again. I still have one cat with who I had declawed in front. He even climbs trees when in the backyard with me.

Ignor the animosity - it's your cat and your house and you choose what to do. You take good care of your animals, many people don't.
Because its not natural for them and they obviously dont like it. Sure YOU feel better when they dont have claws but they don't. If they ever are getting attacked by an animal, lets say a raccoon decides to pick a fight with him...he has no defense besides his teeth, and the raccoon has claws (which havent been cut off or clipped) and teeth. Goodbye kitty.
Well cats have normal instinct to claw and scratch things ...so people do think it is cruel if their nails are surgically removed!!

I did have some friends that did that to their cat - he limped around with all his paws wrapped up - looked very painful - but after that he seemed fine ...my friend loved it - she could hold him and their leather sofa stayed in one piece !

If you can stand to see him in limping in pain for a few weeks then go for it - ....or just keep them nicely clipped ! Also the vet can do it for you !!
You mean their claws? Yeah, it cruel. They can't defnd themselves against other mean animals. They can't get away from other mean animals. No, I think its wrong to declaw cats.
It's bad because its the same as cutting off up to your first knuckle on your finger. It's true that they're sedated during the operation but it also can cause joint problems and pain when they walk. Declawing them also leaves them defenseless. If they're scratching your furniture buy a scratching post. Their nails can also be trimmed if you take the time to do it. If it still bothers you then maybe you should consider looking into another pet. Mutilating an animal to accomodate your needs isn't fair.

Is it ok that my plastic fake nails are a bit smaller than my natural nails?

i got the Kiss French Acrylic sculpture kit and it says to find which nails fit your natural nails. well the plastic nails a a bit smaller than my natural nails around the edges. is this ok or it wont work. its my first time putting on acrylic nails myself so im kinda nervous any tips you guys can give me?Is it ok that my plastic fake nails are a bit smaller than my natural nails?
yes, as long as they do not hurt after you have them on for awhileIs it ok that my plastic fake nails are a bit smaller than my natural nails?
If there are extra nails go the size larger than you need for each nail and file it down to fit correctly. It is kinda hard but be patient and it will turn out better each time.
I guess it's ok as long as you put them on without any air bubbles. Air bubbles can be a breeding ground for bacteria and fungus, so be careful.
    File them down.
It means u dont't need fake nails! just go to a salon and paint them

  • What kind of vitamin do you use to grow hair and nails? And how much does it cost?

methylsulfonylmehtane -(MSM for short) is a good supplement for hair growth. It is already found in the body naturally but we don't intake as much of it, because most of us don't eat enough fruit and vegetables.

MSM is good for the bones and it makes your nails and your hair grow faster. You have to take quite a bit of it to see the results. I saw the Valerie Saxion show last week. She had a whole program dedicated to MSM. On the show she said to take 8000 mg of msm a day (spread out throughout the day) if you have problems with the your back or with your knees, but I notice she only said to take 4000mg a day on the website.

Anyway, I put the link below for you to read more about MSM and its benefits.

    I hope this helps...

p.s. I am not affiliated with the website mentioned below nor do I receive any incentives...just thought you might want to know... good-luck ... :- )What kind of vitamin do you use to grow hair and nails? And how much does it cost?
Well, although there is not one specific vitamin to grow hair and nails faster or better , there are several supplements that can give you an all around good vitamin balance wqhich is the most important thing of all for overall health of all your body. Mainly, get enough protein in your diet, if you don't supplement it with shakes or bars that are high in protein. As far as vitamins, a good overall multi vitamin is a good choice but what a lot of people swear by is pre-natal vitamins. These are souped up vitamins women take when they are pregnant and have perhaps larger amounts of all the vitamins needed. They aren't real expensive (5-10.00) and available over the counter anywhere.

One small hint at a booster vitamin that I used after surgery when it was a possibility my hair would fall out or thin; a vitamin called Biotin. It is a B complex vitamin and it helps with making the most of your protein intake as well. It is really cheap (I get a small bottle at Walmart for like under 2 dollars). I take it morning and night and if anything will help, this is it !What kind of vitamin do you use to grow hair and nails? And how much does it cost?

    3) Try a variety of scratching posts. Most cats like posts covered with thick carpet, which is soft but also provides resistance as they drag their claws downward. Some cats also like tough rope-covered posts, or less expensive cardboard scratching ';mats.';

Plz help ? i will have presentation tomorrow? why the nail stained from using the nail polish and how avoid it

try scrubbing with lemon juice and/or vinegar. next time, put a base coat or clear coat on before a dark polish, which will stop the nail from staining. Good luck with your nails and your presentation!Plz help ? i will have presentation tomorrow? why the nail stained from using the nail polish and how avoid it
You have a presentation on Sunday? That sucks! If you are worried about stained nails, then polish them a light, unassuming color to cover the stains.Plz help ? i will have presentation tomorrow? why the nail stained from using the nail polish and how avoid it
    paint over it
It's stained because of the dark pigment color. To prevent it, you need to use a base clear coat!
    acetone
If your nail polish is the major worry about your presentation, you are gold!
    Use nail polish remover.

    That's what it's for...
well most of the time that happens because the nail polish is to strong but if you start to use softer colors that can help prevent that from happening and in order for you to take the stain of use aceton nail polish remover

What kind of vitamin do you use to grow hair and nails?

Are you lactose intolerant? If not, milk is a good source.
    any prenatal vitamin.

im not sure what it has in it, but something in them makes your hair and nails stronger.
i hear biotin is good for hair and nails - u can get it at any store and its less than 10 bucks

I stubbed my big toe 2 weeks ago. The nail is still blackish bruised on about 1/3rd of it. What should do?

There's really nothing that you can do about it, what do you do for a normal bruise? Normally, wait for it to go away right? It's happened to me before too, and it sucks..I stubbed my big toe 2 weeks ago. The nail is still blackish bruised on about 1/3rd of it. What should do?

UNLESS IT'S AN EMERGENCY LIKE......UMMMM...WELL....JUST DONT GO OUT KAYYYY??????

    -tAMMI hUMAHUMA
See a podiatrist. You probable have bruised blood under there. If it continues your nail will fall off.
it might just fall off depending on how much it's bruised. that's what happened to me when i slammed a car door on my nail. part of it fell off and grew back in again like nothing. don't do anything to it, if you want put a band aid around it but that's it.
Your toenail will just grow out. That happened to my mum, it took a few months to grow out. There's nothing wrong. Don't worry!!
Good luck, I smashed my toe 6 yrs ago and it is now just growing in OK.

What nail polish colors are in? and in what length should it be ??

my skin is pale so wonder what nail polish color would look gd on my hands..and in what length should my nails be ?? thnx for answerin'...(:What nail polish colors are in? and in what length should it be ??
-any pink color defiantly neon pink

    -french tips

    -light brown mocha color

    -reds

    -light purple%26amp;blues

    -black

the nail shape that is in is oval shape

your nails shouldn't be to long.

What nail polish colors are in? and in what length should it be ??
right now, the 'it' colors are either dark or bright.

    personally, i like an almost-black dark purple- try pure ice brand in scandal, you can get it at walmart [;

also, clear, hot pink, and silver polishes are nice.

Shorter nail lenghtes are still very in. Almost a rounded squared tip (if that makes sense rounded square?)

    Look in magazine or OPI

Right now either the very bright almost fuschia pinks are hot or for fall the dark purples/browns

New French Collection just came out for

    OPI line
Bright vibrant colours, like blues, hot pinks, but for a more neutral look, nude pinks, frenches.

The white of the nail should be 1/5 of the whole nail length.
you should wear cosmogirl, and seventeen, they talk about the latest trend.

for summer, it was light green,:)

for fall, like a purple plum, %26amp; light red.
short; you know, long enough so you don't scratch anyone!

don't use pink: it'll make you look paler than you already are.

i think you'd look good with dark colors like:

    brown

    purple

    blue

    dark red

    dark orange

colors- purple, red, black, dark pink, blue

Length- a little long, but not dragon lady nails
    the it color. lol.
    BLACK!!!!!!!!! AND MEDIUM!!!!

How come when you use your finger nail the mouse touch pad of your laptop it doesn't work?

    * There are horizontal and vertical rows of electrodes below it that form a grid. These layers with electrodes are charged with a constant alternating current (AC).

    * As the finger touches the electrode grid, the current is interrupted and the interruption is detected by the circuit board.

    * It works by sensing the capacitance. The human finger is an electrical conductor, and when you place your finger on a TouchPad, a tiny capacitance forms between your finger and the metal electrodes in the TouchPad.

    * The TouchPad sensor's sensitive analog electronics measure the amount of capacitance in each of the electrodes. By measuring which electrodes have the most capacitance, the TouchPad can locate your finger to an accuracy of better than 1/1000th of an inch. How come when you use your finger nail the mouse touch pad of your laptop it doesn't work?
I don't know, I have also noticed this and this is honestly one of the reasons that I hate laptops. I would strongly suggest getting a wireless mouse for you laptop because they are much easier to use in my opinion and I think that they give you much more control then the touch pad. I hope that this helped. Good Luck

Is it possible to be prone to ingrowing nails?

Just before christmas I had an ingrowing toenail and it was agony!! Anyway, it healed by itself so I didn't bother with the doctors. But now my fingernail has started digging in and it has got red, swollen and sore, so I think it is ingrowing. So I am wondering if it is possible for some people to be more prone to ingrowing nails than others? Is it possible to be prone to ingrowing nails?
Yes, some people are just more prone to them. A couple of my toenails are prone to getting ingrown, and I find that it helps if I keep them a little bit on the long side. Cutting them too short only seems to help them get ingrown. Is it possible to be prone to ingrowing nails?
I have in growing toenails. So does my mother and so did my mother's mother. So yes, you can be prone through your parents I would say.
Yep i think so if you compare your feet with that of your parents or family you'll usually find that they look the same so i guess it work the same way for ingrowing nails
Mine gramps me and my sis have all suffered, so yeh i reckon its possible

How much does it cost to get acrylic nails off?

does it hurt when you go to the salon and get them off?How much does it cost to get acrylic nails off?
it doesn't hurt when you get them off at a salon. they soak them for you. its not too expensive at all, depending on where you go.

Is it weird for guys to paint their nails?

depends on the guy. on you, it'd look really weird. on goth/punk guys who can pull the look off it looks perfectly normal. or gay guys... but you're not gay so don't.Is it weird for guys to paint their nails?
It depends where you want to fit in. The well-dressed man may use a clear polish to give a clean, manicured appearance but most men don't use polish. If you want to make some other statement of who you are, such as having a 'colorful' personality, then you must also be prepared to accept any comments, looks or criticisms that come your way.Is it weird for guys to paint their nails?
To most people, yes it is kind of weird. But honestly, who really cares what others may think? Be true to yourself first, and foremost. Life is simply way too short to always have to worry about what others think of you. Live your life for yourself, not for anyone else. If polishing your nails makes you happy, then by all means - do it and don't even give it a second thought. Best wishes!
When I grew up it was weird for guys to have long hair - I grew it long - and my attitude was people could just get used to it. If it is something that is important for you to do then do it and the hell with what anyone else thinks

    Good luck man
i guess it depends on what culture/social upbringing you have.. your the only one who knows the answer to that question... y listen into other people's opinion about things like that?? actually it depends on the individual's perspective if it is weird for he or she to color his or her nail.. live your life not because of how people expect you to be... but live your life on how you want it to be.. hehehe..i guess my answer's a bit long for your question though? hehehe.. have a nice day pal^^ cheers!!!
Painting your toenails a color? I have been doing this for years, open toed sandals and out in public at home and outside. It's catching on and people are accepting it. Check out www.opi.com and Suzie's web blog if you don't believe me, (i.e. toe-paint).

Painting your fingernails? Clear seems to be okay, color is for the rock crowd but hwy care what others think? If you can accept it why can't everyone else? I would say if it makes you feel good, fingers or toes, just do it.
    Depends what color:

    black or gray- it's fine

anything besides black or gray- HOMO!
    YES

I DONT CARE HOW ACCEPTABLE SOCIETY DEEMS IT TO BE

ITS WEIRD TO ME AND MANY OTHER CIVILIZED PEOPLE
    WTF? yes it's weird..

unless you work construction and you are talking about nails that you hammer and you just happen to pain over them or something.
I don't think it's weird, maybe not viewed as 'normal' in today's hung up society but each to their own I say.
yea sorta, unless its like a clear color....i try to paint my boyfriends nails a clear color so theyd look all shiny and healthy and stuff but he wont let me near his nails with nailpolish. lol.
    YES! VERY!
If they are goth or emo or punk, no.

Other than that yes. You would probably get made fun of.
    depends what style you are.

if your goth or scene or w/e then its pretty normal
only if there emo (unless were talking clear coat then your just metro)
Yes, thats pretty weird in my book.
depedns who the guy is, io personally dont think its weird
    yes.
    ya!
    yes

Is it possible to get gel or acrylic nails without the tips?

I want to grow my nails naturally but i don't want the tips put on them as i can't have my nails very long for my work, so can i just get the acrylic ot gel coating just to keep them stronger? Is it possible to get gel or acrylic nails without the tips?
i get mine gel coated and if you want they can paint them a random colour or have tips but if you want you can have no colour and they look really natural.

but if you get your hands wet a lot at your work then your nails get soft and the gel falls off easier.

but i have had mine gelled for about a year now (i need to get them filled in every couple of weeks or so - depends on how fast your nails grow) and they look great

i would definatly recommend gel coatings!

  • Is it possible to trim a dog's nails to short for the show ring?

I am not talking so short that you cut the quick. As you trim a dogs nail down, the quick naturally recedes.

To keep a tidy appearance, and the illusion of a ';tight'; foot, show dogs often have much shorter nails than their pet counterparts.

Is it possible that a dog's nails can get *too* short, where it would be detrimental to their performance? Is it possible to trim a dog's nails to short for the show ring?
No, I don't think so. I use to own and show a doberman and his nails had to be nubs....I mean...just little nubs...it was hard to keep the nail that short and it wasn't too short. Is it possible to trim a dog's nails to short for the show ring?
No, but make sure not to cut to the quick, a wounded dog in the ring will be excused from the class....have seen it.....blood on rear toenail and judge excused the lady, said the dog needed to be cared for, and she did not get to show him....so be careful, nothing says can be too short, but you do not want blood or an injured dog in the ring...

blood or limping, you will be excused from the class....
Not really. I have seen dog nails like half a inch in the ring %26amp; in real world. The only thing I can think of would be digging would be more difficult. Most indoor dogs learn to not bear down on their nails so they don't get caught in the carpet, furniture etc. which why their nails tend to be long.
The only time it would be a problem is if the nail is cut to where the quick is cut severely. This becomes a problem because it does hurt the dog, and they may or may not walk straight.

Otherwise, nails do not make a difference in the ring.
    NO!!!

A true working terrier or a sled-dawg might be hampered in the field.....NOTHING else.

There's no such ';illusion'; possible w/an experienced judge, dear.
No i dont think so. Its more detrimental to have a longer nail on a dog then a shorter one.
    yes

Is it accepted for guys to paint their nails?

I've seen some guys paint their nails black. I've even seen some guys paint their toenails blue. Whats your opinion on this subject? Is it accepted for guys to paint their nails?
No, it isn't.Is it accepted for guys to paint their nails?
    depends on the situation...

In quite a few music subcultures guys wear nail-polish, eyeliner, etc... (Examples: Goth, heavy metal, 80's hair bands, Industrial, Emo, Love metal, death metal, punk... I could go on and on.)

However in the main stream many still find it a bit odd.

Oh and btw I prefer chrome nail polish myself vs. black, but then again like most rivetheads I prefer a more metallic/machine look.
fingernails - yes...ive seen guys wear black nail polish and blue too... and look good with it... but they were mostly like rockers---it might be a little odd seeing a preppy guy walking around with his nails painted.lol...i guess it really just depends on the guys style and as long as they dont get obsessive about it ..if theyre like ';OMG i gotta repaint my nails theyre starting to chip'; that would be kinda gay.lol...........guys painting their toenails? thats just plain weird.
    I prefer red toenails.

I have used clear nail polish on just one nail to seal it because it split.

This is the 21st century and we live in the USA , there is no reason for us to be holding on to 20th century taboos and notions.
Some guys can pull it off and some guys can't. Personally, it doesn't matter either way. If he wants to paint his nails, I don't have a problem with it. Some guys look sexy with the black fingernails.
One of the hottest guys I know usually has his nails painted black....and wears eyeliner to boot ! Doesn't bother me in the least, it's a matter of personal preference. If it works for you, rock it!
there are people with brittle nails, only using some kind of lacquer protects them from the unpleasantry of that, either if guys or gals.
Any fingernail polish color looks stupid on guys.
    yes

Is it bad if you get a cut because of someone's nail?

Na, my friend scratched the heck out my leg while playing football. I just put alcohol on it. :)Is it bad if you get a cut because of someone's nail?
It's just a cut, but clean it and put a Band-Aid on it to reduce the chance of scarring and/or infection.

Would it look strange if I did Zebra nails with black in the background?

Most Zebras, or in this case, Zebra nails have white in the background and black stripes, but I want to try and twist it with black in the background. Would that look strange to you?Would it look strange if I did Zebra nails with black in the background?
i LOVE! doing zebra print nails. i've never done white on black... but try doing teal with black, orange with black, or hot pink with black. i loooove all of those combinations. my toes are currently ';tiger'; stripes!Would it look strange if I did Zebra nails with black in the background?
no that would not be at all! i thought about doing my nails like that actually just have to buy the polish. i was going to do mine silver w/ black strips. bold nails are in.

Is it alright to use nail polish.?

im 28 weeks pregnant, and i want to know if its alright to use nail polish. I want to know if the fumes will hurt my baby or anything. Is it alright to use nail polish.?
It is ok to use, but you probably dont want to go sit in a nail salon because of the extent and amount of fumes. I would say paint your own nails at home. Good luck with your baby!Is it alright to use nail polish.?
Yes, it's fine; just make sure you are in a well ventilated room.
If the fumes bother you, go to a well ventilated area to apply the polish or don't use it.

Otherwise, I'd think it is fine.
My baby is 18 months old but i used a nail polish all the time but there is nothing wrong with him
    yes you can use it,
No...you and your baby should be fine.
The fumes won't hurt your baby as long as you are in a well ventilated room. If you start to feel light-headed or queasy, go to a different room, or walk outside for some freash air.
I used nailpolish on all three of mine and they were all fine. I didnt go into a nail salon though I was afraid the fumes might be too much.
I've never heard of nail polish as being harmful for pregnant women. I used it all during all three of my pregnancies and my babies were fine.
I don't think nail polish would be a problem only if you were deliberately inhaling the fumes over long periods, but just painting your nails you don't breath much in. If your worried paint them outside.
