Stepped on a nail through foot, is it considered an emergency to get a tetanus shot?

the question is regarding insurance, is it technically considered an emergency if a child steps on a nail and needs a tetanus shot? would her medicaid cover it as an emergency? ER visit out of pocket is always $500 plusStepped on a nail through foot, is it considered an emergency to get a tetanus shot?
A child usually has already had tetanus shots as part of childhood immunizations. do you have the records? also. could go to a walk in/urgent care clinic or community health clinic. Call pediatrician or call hosp nurse advice line. $500. is quite a bit for an ER visit, even if just needs an injection. not an emergency, but should soak foot, watch for signs of infections, redness/pain/swelling, not standing on foot, fever. How deep is the puncture wound, If all the way through, needs to be seen. go to urgent care.Stepped on a nail through foot, is it considered an emergency to get a tetanus shot?
i wouldn't be too concerned. if she has had a tetanus shot, she should be protected until her next scheduled one. (not exactly sure what age that is?) just be sure to monitor the wound and keep it clean and make sure she isn't overusing her feet so the wound has a chance to heal. if you sense that there is any sign of infection i would bring her to a doctor. i personally don't think a trip to the ER is necessary.
This is not an Emergency Room visit situation. Make an appointment with your doctor and take care of it then. Been there and done that.
if he hasn't had a tetanus shot in the last 10 years. just make an appointment with his doctor tomorrow, it will be a lot cheaper.
well it depends on a lot of things but i would deff. get a shot if u havnt had one for the last ten years and even if u had i would just in case
Yes, since without Tetnanus shot she could die.
If it was rusted go to th EM now! If not make a doctors appointment.
