Ingrown toe nail operations. How is it?

I'm going to have my ingrown toe nail (isn't too bad) operated on tomorrow, and fixed, so that my nail grows properly.

But.... I'm nervous.

What is it like?... does it take long?... do they use anesthetic? - does it hurt if they don't?...

After the operation, what happens?... Does it hurt going home?...

The biggest question of mine is.... WILL I BE ABLE TO GO TO SCHOOL THE SAME DAY? :(

I don't wanna miss class. I gotta hand stuff in. Anyways, anything else I should know beforehand?

Thanks!! :]Ingrown toe nail operations. How is it?

If you have a good podiatrist, its a pretty simple operation. They do it in maybe 15 minutes tops, they use anesthetic (but it would hurt if they didn't). They pretty much just cut the thing and yank it out. It will probably bleed a little bit, but they will bandage it up. It will feel funny and a little numb for a few hours, and after that it might hurt a tiny bit when you walk on it (but not much).

You should be able to go back to school, but don't expect to be playing any sports for a few days.Ingrown toe nail operations. How is it?
After cutting too short or too deep my toe nails, I experienced the painful growing of the side nails resulting to inflammation and oftentimes with a pus. This may only apply to me personally but I would like to share it with you with out the surgical procedure.

In your community or circle of friends ask them to look for a Filipino pedicurist who is an expert in trimming toe nails with an in-grown. They are such an expert that you don't have to pull out the entire nail but only trim off the protruding sharp point of the nail and cut to shape for comfort once the natural grows back. Just bring along with you a hydrogen peroxide to sanitize your toes, betadine solution to as anti-septic and a tube of neosporin to prevent infection or anti-biotic. Once the ingrown part is pull out, you would be surprised even the pain not only in the toes area but in your foot is also gone.

Wear shoes with Wide sizes and apply baby oil on your nails after drying from shower bath and before wearing your socks.
first don't be nervous ut does not hurt this is the procedure.

first they numb the toe and then when it is ready they remove the ingrown nail then your toe is bandaged and give you instructions not to wet the toe, so what you do is take a shower with the foot covered in a plastic bag, so not to wet the toe,

they should give you an appointment to remove the bandage and of course you can go to school the same day, there is no pain at all.
It doesnt take long but from what I remember they give you a shot behind your big toe to numb it I remember that pain being so painful. This was about 16 yrs ago so I dont know if they do it different now. Just try and relax and take slow breaths.
